Jennifer Lawrence Shares the Awards Show Moment That Made Her Proud to Be a Woman
Jennifer Lawrence is making it clear that when she needs a good laugh, she turns to the legendary duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. During a recent guest appearance on the January 20, episode of Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, the Die My Love star opened up about her deep admiration for the comedy icons.
You’re on my algorithm a lot, Lawrence told Poehler during their wide-ranging chat. You and Tina, you guys hosted a Golden Globes that I was at, and you were the funniest people I’ve ever seen in my life. You made me proud to be a woman.
Poehler, who hosted the awards alongside Fey in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2021, asked if Lawrence was referring to the year they poked fun at her film American Hustle. Was that when we said that American Hustle, the original title was Explosion at the Wig Factory? Poehler joked. Lawrence confirmed that was exactly the moment, recalling the 1970s-set crime drama that earned her an Oscar nomination for her role as Rosalyn Rosenfeld.
The conversation didn’t stop at award shows, as Lawrence also shared her favorite comfort watches. She revealed her love for the HBO political satire Veep, praising Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s performance, and admitted to being a loyal fan of the long-running sitcom Modern Family.
When Poehler turned the topic to reality television, Lawrence’s enthusiasm was undeniable. When asked which unscripted series she would most like to join, Lawrence didn’t hesitate. Well, I mean, I want to be on all of them, she answered. I guess The Kardashians, cause then I’d be on a private plane going to, like, Fiji.
Aside from her podcast appearances, Jennifer Lawrence has been enjoying a massive start to 2026. She recently attended the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 11, where she was honored with a nomination for Best Actress for her performance in the dark comedy-thriller Die My Love.
The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay and produced by Martin Scorsese, features Lawrence as a mother struggling with her mental health in rural France, starring alongside Robert Pattinson and LaKeith Stanfield.
Fans of the Hunger Games franchise also received major news recently, as Lionsgate confirmed that Lawrence will reprise her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project, scheduled for a November 20, release, is based on Suzanne Collins’ latest novel and will feature Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson in a highly anticipated epilogue.
Jennifer Lawrence’s candid appreciation for comedy legends like Poehler and Fey is exactly why fans find her so relatable, she’s just as much of a fan-girl as the rest of us. It’s also fascinating to see her balance heavy, award-contending dramas like Die My Love with her genuine love for lighthearted reality TV and “wig factory” jokes.
