Margot Robbie is trading the bright pink of Barbie Land for a much moodier aesthetic as she begins the press tour for her latest cinematic endeavor. The actress made a striking appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on January 27, to promote her upcoming film Wuthering Heights.

Robbie immediately caught the attention of fans and fashion critics alike by stepping out in a bold Alexander McQueen look. The outfit was a masterclass in gothic elegance, featuring sharp tailoring and dramatic lace details that signaled a significant departure from her previous roles.

The McQueen ensemble was a deliberate choice that reflected the dark romance and intensity of the Emily Brontë adaptation. The design balanced elegance with a certain haunting edge, perfectly mirroring the tone of the upcoming film.

The film is directed by Emerald Fennell, who previously worked with Robbie on Barbie and directed the provocative hit Saltburn. Fennell’s take on the 1847 novel is being described as primal and s****, moving away from the “dusty period drama” trope.

Robbie stars as the willful Catherine Earnshaw alongside Jacob Elordi, who portrays the brooding and vengeful Heathcliff. The casting of the two Australians has sparked significant conversation, but Robbie is quick to defend her co-star.

I saw him play Heathcliff. And he is Heathcliff, she told British Vogue. I honestly think he’s our generation’s Daniel Day-Lewis, she added, praising Elordi’s intense dedication to the role.

The film features an impressive supporting cast, including Oscar nominee Hong Chau as Nelly Dean and Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton. Wuthering Heights is set to hit theaters on February 13, positioned as a dark Valentine’s Day alternative.

Aside from the moors of Yorkshire, Robbie has stayed busy with several other high-profile projects. She recently wrapped production on the sci-fi romance A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, where she stars opposite Colin Farrell.

She is also set to appear in a highly anticipated Ocean’s Eleven prequel, which will reunite her with her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling. Behind the scenes, her production company LuckyChap Entertainment remains a powerhouse, developing various projects across film and television.

Robbie’s recent public appearances have highlighted her versatility not just as an actress, but as a fashion icon. Whether she is wearing vintage-inspired flare jeans in Los Angeles or structured McQueen in front of a studio audience, she remains a focal point of the industry.

Her commitment to Wuthering Heights has been so deep that she described the filming process as a “profound experience” that left her feeling devastated when the job was over. Fans are eager to see if this new collaboration with Fennell can reach the heights of their previous work.

With the release date fast approaching, the promotional tour is expected to bring even more high-fashion moments. Robbie seems more than ready to embrace the complexity of one of literature’s most difficult heroines.
