Calvin Klein, 83, Turns Heads at the Gym with Hot Model Boyfriend Kevin Baker, 37
While the fashion world is currently captivated by the latest runways in Paris, the man who arguably invented modern American minimalism is proving that some habits are best kept close to home.
Calvin Klein, now 83, continues to maintain a lifestyle that is as disciplined and understated as his iconic designs. On Monday, January 26, the legendary designer was spotted on a rare public outing in Venice, California, accompanied by his longtime partner, model Kevin Baker. The pair were seen leaving a workout session at Gold’s Gym, a legendary fitness landmark that fits perfectly with the brand’s decades-long association with athletic, healthy physiques.
The couple’s appearance serves as a quiet reminder of their enduring relationship, which has now spanned a full decade. Klein and Baker, 37, first made headlines as a pair in 2016 when they made their official red carpet debut at the American Ballet Theatre’s Fall Gala. Since then, they have largely opted for a low-key existence, occasionally surfacing for art gallery openings or quiet dinners in New York and Los Angeles.
Monday’s gym date saw both men in athletic attire that mirrored the effortless chic of the Calvin Klein label. Klein wore a simple grey long-sleeve top and black trousers, while Baker opted for a similarly muted palette. Their synchronized, understated approach to public life has become a hallmark of their partnership, proving that for this couple, the most meaningful moments happen far away from the camera’s flash.
Although Klein stepped down from the day-to-day operations of his namesake empire years ago, the brand is currently undergoing a massive creative revival under the leadership of Veronica Leoni. Appointed in 2024 as the house’s first-ever female creative director, Leoni has been tasked with returning the label to its “Collection” roots—the high-fashion tier that Calvin himself once oversaw.
Outside of his occasional fitness dates, Klein remains a formidable figure in the New York and California social circuits, often hosting private gatherings for his close-knit circle of industry veterans.
His daughter, Marci Klein, remains one of the most successful producers in television, continuing the family’s legacy of cultural influence. As the designer enters his mid-eighties, his commitment to the health and minimalism that built his multi-billion dollar empire clearly remains unshaken.
Do you think Calvin Klein’s legacy of minimalism is being well-preserved by the brand’s new creative direction, or do you find the newer, bolder designs a bit too far from the original vision? Share your thoughts in the comments!
