Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista are taking over streaming with their new movie, The Wrecking Crew. The action-packed comedy premiered on Prime Video on January 28, and quickly became the most-watched movie worldwide. The film follows two half-brothers, Jonny and James, who are forced to work together after their father dies under mysterious circumstances. Their search for the truth takes them across Hawaii and into a dangerous conspiracy. Momoa plays Jonny Hale, while Bautista is James Hale. The cast also includes Morena Baccarin, Jacob Batalon, and Temuera Morrison.

Despite all the explosions and stunts, the movie is as much about the brothers’ complicated relationship as it is about action. Critics are enjoying the mix. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a 75 percent rating.

According to CBR, “it is a fun popcorn flick that delivers adrenaline-fueled fun, a buddy cop dynamic, and great performances from Momoa and Bautista.” The review also notes that “while the story is pretty straightforward, it still makes for a comfortable easy-to-stream movie that hearkens back to the simpler action films of the 80s.”

Both stars have busy years ahead. Momoa recently wrapped the live-action Minecraft movie with Jack Black and will appear in Animal Friends and Dune: Part Three later in 2026. Bautista is lending his voice to the new animated Avatar: The Last Airbender movie and is also working on a Highlander reboot and the action film Trap House.
