The reunion hints at what fans can expect from their big-screen collaboration. While the actresses have appeared together in small roles before, this project marks their first major on-screen pairing. Horror fans are especially thrilled to see the two scream queens teaming up in leading roles.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come continues the story of Samara Weaving’s character, Grace MacCaullay, after the events of the 2019 original film. This time, she must protect her younger sister, Faith, played by Kathryn Newton, while facing a deadly game orchestrated by four rival families competing for a seat on a mysterious global council.

The sequel also features a strong supporting cast, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, David Cronenberg, Shawn Hatosy, and Néstor Carbonell. Fans of the genre are already counting down to the release.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who direct under the name Radio Silence, return to helm the project, working from a script by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, who wrote the original film. The team promises more action while keeping the dark humor that made the first movie a hit.

Both actresses have been busy with other projects leading up to this film. Newton recently appeared in the vampire thriller Abigail and the dark comedy Lisa Frankenstein, and she continues to be a fan favorite as Cassie Lang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Weaving has starred in Scream VI and Azrael and recently finished filming Over Your Dead Body, an English-language remake of the Norwegian thriller The Trip, alongside Jason Segel and Timothy Olyphant.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is set to premiere at SXSW in mid-March and will hit theaters nationwide on March 20. The latest trailer highlights the strong chemistry between Newton and Weaving, showing fans why their real-life friendship translates so well on screen.
