Olivia Wilde turned heads at the 78th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards, proving once again that she is a force to be felt in front of and behind the camera.

The star arrived at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 7, radiating confidence as she walked the red carpet. She chose a striking Prada ensemble for the evening, a choice that perfectly mirrored the sophisticated and bold energy she has brought to her recent directorial work.

The evening was a celebration of the film industry’s top directorial talent, and Wilde was right at the center of the conversation. Just weeks before this appearance, her third directorial effort, The Invite, became the talk of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. The movie sparked a massive 72-hour bidding war, which was eventually won by A24 for a reported price tag of over $10 million.

The Invite is a sharp, bittersweet s** comedy that follows a married couple experiencing a rough patch who invite their adventurous neighbors over for a dinner party. In addition to directing the project, Wilde stars in the film as Angela. She is joined by an incredible A-list cast that includes Seth Rogen as her husband, alongside Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton as the neighbors from upstairs.

The film received a rare standing ovation at its world premiere and has been praised by critics for its wit and emotional depth. This success marks a triumphant return for Wilde after the high-profile gossip that surrounded her previous thriller, Don’t Worry Darling.

It seems that with this latest project, she has returned to the character-focused, comedic roots that first made her a directorial standout with Booksmart.

Aside from her work as a filmmaker, Wilde has also been earning rave reviews for her acting performance in the film I Want Your Sex, directed by Gregg Araki. This double-header of successful projects in 2026 has many calling this the best era of her career so far. She remains a fixture at high-fashion events, recently attending the Michael Kors show and W Magazine’s elite gatherings.
