Elle Fanning Turned Heads at the 98th Oscars Nominees Luncheon in Los Angeles this Tuesday, looking every bit the star in an elegant black outfit. The event, held at the Academy Museum, gathered this year’s Oscar nominees for the traditional class photo, and Fanning was one of the brightest figures in the room.

The actress is celebrating her first-ever Academy Award nomination for her role in the Norwegian drama Sentimental Value. Known for her ethereal style, Fanning chose a sophisticated ensemble that reflected her signature look while keeping it classic for the high-profile occasion.

The luncheon was filled with excitement as actors from around the world came together to toast their accomplishments. Fanning was seen laughing, posing with fellow nominees, and enjoying the moment as photographers captured the star-studded event.

When the Oscar nominations were announced in late January, Fanning shared an emotional FaceTime call with the film’s director, Joachim Trier. She was visibly moved, tears running down her face as she celebrated with her family.

She later wrote on social media, I can’t catch my breath and said she was in absolute shock over the nomination. She added how special it was to have her mother, grandmother, and sister Dakota there to scream and hug and cry with her.

In Sentimental Value, Fanning plays Rachel Kemp, an American actress who travels to Oslo to manage a complicated family inheritance. Critics have praised her performance, calling it the most mature and moving work of her career so far.

Fanning has had a busy few years, moving between indie films and big-budget blockbusters. Last year, she starred in the sci-fi action film Predator: Badlands, playing twin characters Thia and Tessa.

In 2026, fans can look forward to seeing her in the satirical thriller Rosebush Pruning, premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film, directed by Karim Aïnouz, explores the dark secrets of a wealthy, dysfunctional family and features a cast including Riley Keough, Callum Turner, Jamie Bell, and Pamela Anderson.

On the small screen, Fanning will star in the Apple TV+ series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, where she plays a struggling young mother navigating life with the help of her eccentric parents, portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer and Nick Offerman. She is also set to appear alongside her sister Dakota in the upcoming adaptation of The Nightingale, fulfilling a long-held dream for both actresses.

In addition, Fanning will return to blockbuster territory as a young Effie Trinket in the prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. At just 27, she has successfully balanced indie films with large-scale franchises, showing her versatility and range as an actress.

As the 98th Academy Awards approach on March 15, Elle Fanning’s first Oscar nomination marks a major milestone in her career. Even if she doesn’t take home the statue, her presence at the luncheon proves she has firmly secured her place among Hollywood’s elite.
