Israeli Producer of Hit Apple TV Spy Series ‘Tehran’ Found Dead in Athens Hotel Room

Dana Eden, the producer of the popular Israeli series “Tehran,” was found dead in a hotel room in Athens on Sunday, Greek police confirmed. She was 52 years old, and authorities are investigating her death as a possible suicide.

Eden was in Athens working on the fourth season of “Tehran,” the Apple TV+ spy show about a Mossad agent trying to infiltrate Iran’s government. Her body was discovered by her brother after he became worried when she did not reply to his messages, according to the Israeli broadcaster Kan. Local media reported that she had bruises on her neck and lower body.

The production company behind the series, Donna and Shula Productions, denied any foul play. “The production company wants to make it clear that the rumors of the death being criminal or nationalistic are not true and baseless,” a spokesperson told the Times of Israel.

“We call on the media and the public not to publish unfounded theories and to act with responsibility and sensitivity. This is a moment of immense pain for the family, friends, and colleagues. We want to preserve Dana’s dignity and her privacy.”

Israeli broadcasting officials also shared their sadness. “Dana was among the senior figures in the Israeli television industry and was a central figure in the creation and leadership of some of the corporation’s most prominent and influential productions,” they said.

Before “Tehran,” Eden worked on shows like “Saving the Wildlife,” “She Has It,” and “Shakshouka.” The third season of “Tehran” launched on Apple TV+ in January, though it had originally been planned for release last July.

Eden’s death has left colleagues and fans in shock, highlighting her role as an important figure in Israeli television.
