Sydney Sweeney is making headlines again, this time for her firm stance on performing nude scenes in films. In a resurfaced interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Sweeney spoke openly about why she continues to take on these roles.

I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, she said, emphasizing that nudity is part of telling the story, not about being objectified. She explained that people often misunderstand her choices, thinking, ‘Oh, she gets naked onscreen, she’s a s** symbol,’ when in reality, she is portraying a character.

Sweeney also shared her frustration with the assumptions that come with provocative roles. And I can’t get past that. I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry, she added. She highlighted that her confidence comes from working with trusted filmmakers, noting, I fully trust in the filmmakers that I work with, and I’m always so excited for whatever Sam writes, referring to Sam Levinson, creator of Euphoria.

Her career has been on a rapid rise in 2026. She recently starred in the sports drama Christy as boxing legend Christy Martin, training intensely for the role. She acted alongside Ben Foster and Merritt Wever, showcasing her ability to handle physically demanding and dramatic roles.

Sweeney is also appearing in the Apple TV+ thriller Echo Valley, playing the daughter of Julianne Moore’s character. The film follows a horse trainer protecting her family after a traumatic event. Earlier last year, she appeared in Ron Howard’s survival thriller Eden with Ana de Armas and Jude Law, showing a grittier side of her acting.

Looking ahead, she will lead the sci-fi remake of Barbarella, which she is also executive producing. Edgar Wright is directing the project, which promises a bold new take on the cult classic originally starring Jane Fonda.

Fans are also anticipating her return to Euphoria for its third season, which picks up after a time jump and is set to premiere later this spring. Outside of acting, Sweeney has remained prominent in fashion, recently representing American Eagle at the New York Stock Exchange.

Her commitment to creative freedom and trust in her collaborators defines her career. By embracing challenging and controversial roles, she continues to stand out as one of Hollywood’s most fearless young stars.

Sydney Sweeney’s approach shows real courage and dedication to her craft. She refuses to let labels or criticism limit her artistic choices, which makes her a standout talent today.
