Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams have officially stepped onto the red carpet together. The couple made their first major public appearance at the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards in London. Photos from Getty Images show the pair smiling as they arrived at the Royal Festival Hall, where this year’s ceremony took place.

The two had been together for over a year but had not attended a big awards show side by side until now. Just days earlier, they were seen at a documentary screening. The BAFTAs marked their first full red carpet moment as a couple.

Mescal kept his look classic. He wore a black tuxedo jacket with a white shirt and rolled-up cuffs. Abrams chose a fitted black dress with detailed embellishment across the fabric. The gown featured blue sparkle around the neckline and sleeves. She finished her look with silver drop earrings and wore her short brown hair sleek and straight.

Pictures from the event show Mescal with his arm around Abrams as they posed for photographers. Both looked relaxed and happy as they greeted the press and made their way inside.

The night was also important for Mescal’s career. He received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for playing William Shakespeare in Hamnet. His co-star Jessie Buckley was nominated for Best Actress. If she wins, she would become the first Irish performer to take home the Best Actress award at the British Academy Film Awards.

Irish actors have had strong success at the BAFTAs in recent years. Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon won supporting acting awards in 2023 for The Banshees of Inisherin. In 2024, Cillian Murphy won Best Actor for Oppenheimer. A win for Buckley would mean Ireland has claimed awards in all four major acting categories.
