For years, Jennifer Aniston has been known for her shiny, healthy hair with soft highlights and a clean, simple cut. The former Friends star rarely makes drastic changes. She may adjust the length or tone from time to time, but her signature look stays the same. Her hair always looks polished and fresh.

Now her longtime hairstylist, Chris McMillan, has shared the routine behind that famous look. McMillan is one of Hollywood’s top hair experts. He has worked with stars like Gigi Hadid and Sarah Jessica Parker, and he also has his own product line sold at Sephora. He spoke openly about hair care and explained what really matters when it comes to keeping hair healthy.

According to McMillan, many people focus too much on products and not enough on how they use them. He says washing your hair the right way is key.

“People on average spend about 45 seconds with shampoo, but sometimes you have to do it three or four times, it all depends on the length of the hair and how dirty it is, but at least twice. Shampoo is primarily for cleaning the scalp, not the hair. Shampoo should run down the length and ends of the hair. I always say apply shampoo to the root. If you want to wash and stimulate the scalp well, especially do not neglect the back of the head; it is always a very dense area and should be washed well,” he explained.

He also spoke about conditioner. McMillan says it should not go on the roots. Instead, apply it from the middle of the hair down to the ends. This helps keep volume while still making the hair smooth and shiny.

Water temperature also plays a role. He advises using lukewarm water when washing. Very hot water can dry out the hair and scalp. You can finish with a cooler rinse if you want extra shine.

Many people still wonder how often they should wash their hair. McMillan says two to three times a week is ideal to keep a good balance. However, he added that some experts believe daily washing is fine if your hair needs it. He says there is no reason to fear washing too often if you are using the right products for your hair type.

He also stressed that shampoo and conditioner are not enough on their own. If you use heat tools like blow dryers or straighteners, a heat protection product is a must. Without it, hair can become dry and damaged over time.

Jennifer Aniston’s hair has become one of her trademarks. It looks simple, but it clearly takes the right care and technique. What do you think about these tips? Do you follow a similar routine, or do you have your own hair care secrets? Share your thoughts in the comments.
