Kate Hudson turned heads in Hollywood on Thursday, February 26, as she celebrated a key figure in her latest career success. According to reports, the 46-year-old actress attended a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre to honor producer John Davis, who is behind her current hit film, Song Sung Blue.

The event, which features the Hollywood tradition of immortalizing hand and footprints in cement, gave Hudson a special moment to pay tribute to Davis. Dressed in a flowing one-shoulder olive green gown, she wore glasses to read a heartfelt speech.

John, standing here at the TCL Chinese Theater for your hand and foot ceremony feels absolutely right, she told the audience. Because if there’s anyone whose fingerprints are all over this generation of filmmaking, it’s you.

Hudson highlighted Davis’s dedication and optimism, saying his work has created stories that will last for generations. The appearance comes at a high point in Hudson’s career. Her role as Claire Sardina in Song Sung Blue earned her a Best Actress nomination, twenty-five years after her first nomination for Almost Famous.

In the musical drama, Hudson stars alongside Hugh Jackman as part of a real-life husband-and-wife Neil Diamond cover band from 1990s Milwaukee. Although the film faced some criticism from the late Mike Sardina’s family, Hudson said Claire Sardina herself was thrilled with how the story was portrayed.

Just days before the Hollywood ceremony, Hudson was honored at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, receiving the Arlington Artist of the Year Award. Her longtime friend Gwyneth Paltrow presented the award, describing Hudson as like a little sister and praising her transformative performance in Song Sung Blue. Paltrow said she called Hudson in tears after seeing the film, moved by her friend’s work.

Hudson continues to stay busy with several high-profile projects. She is preparing for the April 23 premiere of the second season of her Netflix sports comedy Running Point, where she stars as Isla Gordon, the president of a fictional Los Angeles basketball team. The new season will include veterans like Ray Romano joining the cast.

In addition to acting, Hudson recently released her debut studio album, Glorious, and has hinted at more live musical performances later this year. Between her acting and music, Hudson is proving she can balance multiple creative pursuits while continuing to impress fans and critics alike.
