Kate and Oliver Hudson’s Sibling Comedy Moment Lights Up the Actor Awards
A light and funny moment between Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson became one of the most talked about highlights at the 2026 Actor Awards.
During the event, Kate shared her “I Am Actor” speech on stage. As she spoke about her younger years, Oliver sat behind her and reacted in a playful way. His over-the-top expressions made the audience laugh along with her story.
Kate told the crowd, “Hello. I used to get in trouble for daydreaming. I was accused of being disruptive, irreverent, and dramatic.” She went on, “I was sent home from school for inappropriate dress, my makeup choices were too distracting, I was boy crazy, and too loud when I walked into a room.”
She continued by saying, “I was too opinionated in my ideas. Well, to my great relief, it turns out these are all very marketable skills. My name is Kate Hudso,n and I am an actor.”
The audience cheered as Oliver kept reacting behind her, adding humor to the moment.

Later, Extra spoke with the siblings on the red carpet through reporter Terri Seymour. Kate arrived wearing Valentino, along with Desert Diamonds by Emily P. Wheeler. Talking about her jewelry, she joked, “I’m pretty obsessed with them. Like, I feel like I might not give them back.”
Oliver also spoke proudly about his sister, who is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in Song Sung Blue. He said, “I’ve looked up to this person forever, even though she’s my younger sister. Her grit, her determination, you know, her ability to just push through anything. It’s inspirational because it’s something that I look up to and want to achieve more of.”
He added, “So, that aside, this role for her was a long time coming, in my opinion. It all lined up. Stars all lined up. She’s got her album. She’s an incredible singer. She gets to do it on screen and play this person who is, just, the depth of this character… Only she could actually portray, it in my opinion.”
The interview also touched on their strong family bond. Their parents are Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Kate explained that growing up in a show business family shaped how they see their work.
She said, “I think it’s an interesting thing when you grow up in a family that has all been a part of this industry from the get-go. You know, it’s like you… see it from a different perspective… It’s like it’s not about what it might look like from the outside in. It’s not about fame. It’s not about the glamour, even though this is fun. It’s about stamina and it’s a marathon and it’s about how hard you work.”
She added, “And so, I think for our family, we all chose this business, you know, we love it. So, it feels a little like we see it in each other a little bit differently. It’s a really wonderful moment. I feel like everybody in our family right now, we’re all enjoying this time — and it’s been great to be recognized.”
