False rumors about Quentin Tarantino spread quickly online this week, but the filmmaker is alive and doing fine. Sources close to Tarantino told Deadline that the claims circulating on X are completely untrue.

The confusion started after a viral post from a large account claimed Tarantino had been killed during an Iranian missile strike on Israel. The post falsely listed Deadline as its source, which helped it spread fast.

Within hours, fans were sharing the claim and reacting with concern before the post was flagged as misinformation. Deadline confirmed that no such report was ever published and that Tarantino is safe. Representatives for the director backed that up, shutting down the story entirely.

Around the same time, similar fake posts appeared about Jerry Seinfeld, using almost the same wording. Those claims were also false, and Seinfeld’s team confirmed he is alive and well. There is no evidence supporting either story.

The rumors were fueled further by AI-generated images that appeared to show Tarantino hiding in a bomb shelter in Israel. These images are fake. They played off the fact that Tarantino has spent time in Israel over the years and is married to Israeli singer Daniella Pick, but the visuals themselves are not real.

The incident has added to growing concerns about how easily false information spreads during global conflicts. Critics say platforms like X are still struggling to slow down harmful rumors once they start gaining traction.

Away from the internet noise, Tarantino has been busy with real projects. In 2024, he officially stepped away from his planned final film, The Movie Critic. Speaking about that decision, he previously said I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked. Since then, his focus has shifted to writing and theater.

He is currently working on a new play for the West End and is expected to spend time in London while the production comes together. While fans are still waiting to see if he will direct another feature, his work is far from finished.

A new film connected to his past work is also on the way. A sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, wrapped filming earlier this year. The movie is directed by David Fincher and written by Tarantino.

Brad Pitt returns in his Oscar-winning role, and the film is set to be released on Netflix later this year. Tarantino has described the project as something new and unfamiliar, even though it revisits a character audiences already love.

As for Seinfeld, he has also remained very visible. The comedian is currently touring with stand-up dates scheduled through the fall. He is also expected to appear in an upcoming sketch comedy series from Larry David on HBO, marking another reunion between the longtime collaborators.

For now, both men are continuing their work as usual. The viral posts may have caused panic online, but according to confirmed sources, there is no truth to the rumors.
