He is perhaps best remembered for leading a group of convicts on a dangerous mission in ‘The Dirty Dozen’. James Coburn was an actor who brought a unique blend of coolness and lethal skill to the screen. He rose to fame as the knife throwing expert Britt in ‘The Magnificent Seven’ and later starred in ‘The Great Escape’. Coburn also parodied the spy genre as the suave secret agent Derek Flint in ‘Our Man Flint’. He was a lifelong student of martial arts and was a close friend and student of Bruce Lee. Late in his career he won an Academy Award for his powerful supporting role in the drama ‘Affliction’.
