Timothée Chalamet Had a Private Chef on Set—And Three Breakfasts Every Morning
Stories from film sets often reveal small details about how big stars are treated. Recently, comedian Tom Davis shared one such story about working with Timothée Chalamet while filming Wonka.
Davis spoke about the experience during an episode of the Parenting Hell podcast. He said the young Hollywood actor had his own private chef on set. According to Davis, this stood out because the rest of the cast had much simpler breakfast options.
‘One thing that ground my gears – he had a personal chef.’ Davis said he later spoke with the chef out of curiosity. He asked what was being prepared that morning and was surprised by the answer.
‘And we were having quite ropey breakfasts. I got to know his personal chef quite a bit and I said, “What are you cooking this morning?”‘ The chef explained that he usually cooked several meals so Chalamet could pick one.
‘He said, “I do three different things for Tim, and he’ll have one thing.”‘ Davis said the actor then offered the extra meals to others nearby. ‘And Timothée turned around and went, “Hey man, why don’t you have the other two things?”‘
Chalamet played a younger version of the famous chocolatier in the film. The story explores the early life of Willy Wonka before he became the well-known candy maker. The movie was filmed mostly in London. Chalamet later said spending months in the UK made him feel very connected to the country.
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the actor spoke about the project and said it became one of the highlights of his career. ‘I am proud of all the films I have done, but this is my favourite.’ He also said the production was the most enjoyable experience he had ever had while filming a movie.
‘It is the most fun I’ve had working on anything ever. It is sweet and good and will fill you with joy.’ The actor added that living in London for months gave him a special feeling about the country.
‘We shot the film in London, so, after spending five months here, I feel like an honorary Brit – it was joyous.’ When host Graham Norton asked how he managed to build such a successful career at a young age, Chalamet kept his answer simple.
Moments like this give fans a small look into what life is like for major stars behind the scenes. Having a private chef and several breakfast options might sound excessive to some people, but it is not unusual for big productions to provide special treatment for lead actors.
Still, many people may wonder where the line should be between comfort and luxury on a film set. What do you think about this story? Do you believe top actors deserve this kind of treatment while filming, or does it seem unnecessary? Share your thoughts in the comments.
