Australian actress Milly Alcock is stepping into a major new phase of her career while also grabbing attention with a bold magazine appearance. Alcock’s career has been rising quickly since her breakout role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the hit series House of the Dragon. Since then she has expanded into different types of projects. She recently appeared in the Netflix dark comedy series Sirens alongside Julianne Moore and Meghann Fahy. She has also performed on stage in London, playing Abigail Williams in The Crucible at the Gielgud Theatre.
Some fans may have already spotted Alcock briefly in the 2025 Superman film. The short appearance hinted at her future role in the expanding DC movie universe.
The new Supergirl film is directed by Craig Gillespie and will arrive in theaters and IMAX on June 26. The story follows Kara during a space journey tied to revenge and justice as she marks her 23rd birthday.
The film also features a strong cast. Matthias Schoenaerts plays the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, while Eve Ridley appears as the young warrior Ruthye Marye Knoll. Jason Momoa joins the movie as the alien bounty hunter Lobo, a completely new role for him after previously playing Aquaman.
The project is being produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the current leaders of DC Studios. They have described Alcock’s version of Supergirl as closer to an antihero, with the story focusing not only on action but also on the character’s inner struggles.
