‘The Sandlot’ Star Throws Punches in Wild Late-Night Fight Outside L.A. Nightclub
Marty York, best known for his role as Alan “Yeah-Yeah” McClennan in The Sandlot, was involved in a late-night fight outside a popular Hollywood nightclub, according to footage obtained by TMZ.
The incident took place outside the Warwick nightclub on Sunset Boulevard on Saturday night. Video shows York in a physical altercation with a larger man.
The fight starts on the sidewalk before moving into a nearby parking garage. At one point, York rips his shirt off as the two men continue trading punches between parked cars. Both appear unsteady, and the other man falls to the ground during the fight.
Speaking to TMZ, York said he did not start the confrontation. “Some unknown individual charged at me, and I had to defend myself,” he explained. No police were called to the scene, and the situation ended without any reported arrests.
York, 45, began acting in California as a teen and appeared in The Sandlot as well as a guest role on Boy Meets World. His acting career slowed after a serious car accident at age 17 that left him with major injuries. Since then, he has worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.
In addition to his career challenges, York has faced personal tragedies. His sister, Nadia, died from a Fentanyl overdose, and several years later his mother, Deanna Esmaeel, was murdered. According to York, his mother had previously become a sheriff’s deputy in Del Norte County later in life after a career in animal wrangling and cinematography.
He described her determination, saying, “For years, she learned how to fight, got sprayed in the face with Mace, learned how to use weapons, beat cadets in their 30s at obstacle courses, passed out, got back up, failed again and got back up.”
Despite the recent incident, York is planning a return to acting and has reportedly landed a recurring role in an upcoming ABC television series.
This public fight shows how a mix of old fame and personal challenges can sometimes lead to tense situations. While York says he was defending himself, it still raises questions about how quickly things escalated in a public space. What do you think about this incident?
