Tom Holland is taking a fresh approach to promoting the upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. On March 18, Sony Pictures released the first official trailer, and the actor’s marketing strategy is already making waves.

Holland teamed up with the studio to try something different. Instead of a typical press tour, fans around the world shared localized clips of the trailer on social media, creating a global grassroots buzz.

The campaign then reached its peak in New York City, where Holland visited the Empire State Building for a special light display. The skyscraper glowed in bright red and blue, reflecting the classic Spider-Man suit seen in the new film.

“Tom Holland lighting up the Empire State Building for the Brand New Day trailer drop is the kind of press run that reminds you why Spider-Man is the biggest solo franchise in comic book history blud, the city became the campaign, and that is proper cinema energy fam,” one fan wrote online.

The event, shared by the building’s official Instagram, highlighted the global launch of the trailer and celebrated the character’s connection to New York City. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31 and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.

The story takes place four years after No Way Home, with Peter Parker living a life of complete anonymity. Returning cast members include Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, though their characters currently have no memory of Peter.

The trailer also confirmed appearances by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal reprising his role as the Punisher. New additions include Sadie Sink and Michael Mando returning as the villainous Scorpion.

The film promises a mix of returning favorites and exciting new faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland has a busy summer ahead. Just two weeks before Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters, he will star with Zendaya in Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey.

Off-screen, he has focused on his sobriety and mental health, sharing his journey with fans to inspire and encourage them. The upcoming Spider-Man movie is being described as a “reset” for the franchise.

It will focus on street-level crime and Peter Parker’s personal struggles as he navigates his evolving abilities. With the trailer now online, fans are already counting down the days to the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
