Chuck Norris, the legendary martial artist and star of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” has passed away at the age of 86. His family confirmed the news in a statement, saying he died peacefully in Hawaii, surrounded by loved ones.

“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family,” they wrote. “Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.”

Norris was more than just an actor; he was a true martial arts champion. He trained in multiple disciplines, holding black belts in judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, and Chun Kuk Do. He famously starred opposite Bruce Lee in the 1972 film The Way of the Dragon (also known as Return of the Dragon), which cemented his place in martial arts history.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Norris became a major action star, appearing in hits like The Delta Force, Missing in Action, Good Guys Wear Black, The Octagon, Lone Wolf McQuade, Code of Silence, and Firewalker. He returned briefly to film in 2012 with The Expendables 2, sharing the screen with other action legends.

In the 1980s, Norris also starred in the Missing in Action series, inspired by the loss of his younger brother Wieland in the Vietnam War. He dedicated the films to his brother’s memory, though critics noted similarities to Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo series.

As his film career slowed, Norris found success on television with Walker, Texas Ranger, which ran from 1993 to 2001. He reprised the role of Cordell Walker in TV movies and became known for portraying an all-American hero with martial arts skill and unwavering moral code.

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, he served in the Air Force before opening a chain of karate schools in the U.S., teaching celebrities including Steve McQueen and Priscilla Presley. He later became a well-known figure in pop culture, famously the subject of countless Chuck Norris memes celebrating exaggerated feats of strength.

Outside of acting, Norris wrote books with Christian and patriotic themes and was known for supporting conservative political causes. He was married twice, first to Dianne Holechek and later to Gena O’Kelley, and is survived by his children and grandchildren.

Chuck Norris left an indelible mark on Hollywood and martial arts. He was a symbol of strength, discipline, and dedication, and he inspired generations with both his films and his real-life achievements.

Chuck Norris wasn’t just an action star, he was a legend who embodied determination and skill. His influence will live on in film, television, and martial arts communities worldwide.
