Netflix has released the first trailer for Devil May Cry Season 2, giving fans a glimpse of the epic battles and dark twists to come. The second season of the hit anime adaptation of the popular video game is set to return in less than two months, promising more stylish demon-slaying action and intense family drama.

The biggest focus of the new season is the long-awaited showdown between Dante, voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, and his estranged twin brother Vergil, voiced by Robbie Daymond. Season 1 ended with the shocking reveal that Vergil was still alive, setting the stage for a clash that has been years in the making. The trailer flashes between past and present, teasing the history and tension between the two half-demon siblings.

Season 2 picks up as Dante and Vergil are forced onto opposite sides of a war between worlds. The conflict escalates when Vice President William Baines, voiced by Kevin Conroy, invades Makai. Dante must confront not only his enemies but also his own inner demons and his complicated feelings about family.

Series creator Adi Shankar spoke to Collider about Vergil’s role, explaining that the character brings a new energy to the story. “The interesting part is that Vergil’s a guy who can stand completely still and still feel like the most dangerous one in the room. His presence does the talking,” Shankar said. Vergil’s calm yet deadly demeanor contrasts sharply with Dante’s brash, swaggering personality, promising a dynamic and gripping rivalry.

With Season 2 on the horizon, fans can expect more action-packed sequences, darker storylines, and the emotional intensity of a brotherly duel that has been building since the first season. The series continues to expand the universe of Devil May Cry, blending supernatural battles with deeply personal stakes.

Devil May Cry: Season 2 launches on Netflix on May 12.
