Laura Dern is taking on a powerful new project as she prepares to star in a limited TV series based on Julie K. Brown’s book Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story. The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television and Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries, tells the story of Brown’s relentless investigation into Epstein’s secret plea deal with federal prosecutors.

Brown, who worked for the Miami Herald, spent years uncovering the truth, tracking down more than 80 victims and convincing key survivors to speak publicly. Her reporting led to the arrests of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the release of millions of Justice Department files, and had far-reaching consequences including political resignations and scrutiny of powerful figures worldwide.

Sharon Hoffman, known for Mrs. America and House of Cards, is writing the series and co-showrunning it alongside Eileen Myers (American Hostage, Masters of Sex). Both also executive produce the project with Dern, Brown, McKay, and Kevin Messick.

Dern has built an impressive TV resume with roles in Palm Royale, Tiny Beautiful Things, and Big Little Lies. McKay is known for his work on Succession and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. Hyperobject Industries, McKay’s company, previously produced the investigative series Broken: Seeking Justice, which also featured Brown and survivors of Epstein’s abuse.

In a statement about the project, Dern said, “I am honored to help bring Julie Brown’s story to the screen. It’s an important moment to shine a light on truth and accountability.”

This series promises to be both dramatic and revealing, showing how Brown’s reporting exposed hidden crimes and powerful people who were thought untouchable. The combination of Dern’s acting, McKay’s production, and the real-life impact of the story makes it a highly anticipated project.

This series could become one of the most talked-about shows of the year because of its subject matter and the talent involved. It’s rare to see a story that combines investigative journalism, real-world consequences, and high-profile entertainment in such a bold way.
