Court Blocks Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner from Hiding Ray J Settlement
Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, were blocked by a judge in their attempt to keep a 2023 settlement with Ray J private, according to TMZ. Court records show that a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied their request to seal documents related to the deal.
The judge ruled that Kim and Kris did not show enough evidence that making the settlement public would harm them.
The dispute began in October 2025 when Kim and Kris sued Ray J, claiming he defamed them by suggesting federal authorities were investigating them. They denied the allegations. Ray J countersued, arguing that they broke a secret agreement from 2023 regarding the infamous sex tape.
Ray J claims he was paid $6 million to keep the tape private forever. He says Kim and Kris violated the deal by talking about it during an episode of their Hulu show.
Kim and Kris went to court asking for the agreement and other related documents to remain confidential. Their lawyers said, “The agreement resolved highly sensitive matters that the parties explicitly agreed to keep confidential in order to protect their families from public disclosure and respect these sensitive matters.”
Ray J opposed keeping the deal secret, and the judge agreed with him. The court has now ordered Kim and Kris to submit unredacted versions of the documents.
As reported by TMZ, Ray J claims the agreement included a $6 million payment, although the Kardashian family has not confirmed that figure.
This case highlights how difficult it is for public figures to keep legal matters private. Even high-profile settlements can become public when disputes arise.
