Sadie Sink looked radiant on opening night of her West End run as Juliet, channeling the iconic style of Claire Danes in Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film Romeo + Juliet.

For the evening, Sink wore a custom Prada gown that mirrored the legendary Juliet look. The dress featured tiny capped shoulders, a double-wrapped empire waist, and a glowing satin fabric that caught the light beautifully. She was styled by Molly Dickson, with hair by Halley Brisker, makeup by Emma Day, and sparkling jewelry from Repossi.

Fans of the original film might have noticed the nod to Claire Danes’s 1996 costume, which was designed by Kym Barrett. Danes wore a smocked white dress with a double-banded waist in the film’s famous balcony scene. The fabric had a soft sheen, giving her an almost angelic appearance that captured Romeo’s description of her as a “bright angel.”

Thirty years later, designers and fashion lovers are still inspired by that look. Reinterpretations of the original Juliet dress can be found in brands like Dôen, Reformation, and Quince, and even on Etsy for around $250. However, Sadie Sink’s Prada gown is a one-of-a-kind custom piece from the Milan atelier and is not available for purchase.

The young actress, now 23, has a history of working with Prada on red carpets, but this collaboration feels particularly special, given the historical connection to one of film’s most memorable Shakespeare adaptations.

It’s remarkable to see a modern star paying tribute to a classic cinematic moment while making it her own. Seeing Sadie Sink embody Juliet in such a luminous gown reminds us how timeless certain costume designs can be.
