Blake Lively Strikes Back After Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Rocks the Spotlight
Blake Lively is refusing to back down after a major update in her legal fight with former co-star and director Justin Baldoni. On Thursday, April 2, a federal judge in New York dismissed 10 of the 13 claims Lively had filed against Baldoni and his production company.
The decision removed allegations of sexual harassment and defamation from the case, but Lively made it clear that the heart of her lawsuit is still very much alive. Speaking to her fans on social media, Lively explained why she brought the case in the first place.
She said, “The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive RETALIATION I faced, and continue to, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment for myself and others.” She emphasized that her legal action was not about personal grievances but about standing up for safe working conditions.

The judge dismissed the sexual harassment claims because of a technicality. Lively was classified as an independent contractor rather than a direct employee, which affected the legal basis for some of her claims.
Despite this, her legal team noted that the remaining claims will allow a jury to hear evidence about an alleged effort to damage her reputation. Lively is using this as an opportunity to highlight issues of digital abuse in Hollywood.
She said, “I will never stop doing my part in fighting to expose the systems and people who seek to harm, shame, silence, and retaliate against victims. I know it’s a privilege to be able to stand up. I will not waste it.”
The trial is set to begin on May 18 and is expected to be one of the most closely watched legal cases in Hollywood this year. While preparing for court, Lively continues to keep busy with her career.
She recently signed on to produce and star in the action-romance film The Survival List, in which she plays a reality TV producer stranded on a shipwreck with a fraudulent survival expert. Casting for the male lead is still underway.
In addition to acting, Lively is growing her business ventures. She continues to expand her non-alcoholic beverage brand, Betty Buzz, while balancing her advocacy work. The actress has made it clear that she wants to use her platform to push for safer standards in the entertainment industry and protect victims of online harassment.
Even with the legal battle ahead, Lively remains focused and determined. Her message to fans is about resilience, courage, and holding people accountable. The remaining claims in her lawsuit give her a chance to make her case in court while also continuing to highlight the importance of workplace safety and digital accountability.
