Top Actresses Compete for Maxima Role in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ as Finalists Are Announced

Talk about casting for the upcoming Superman sequel has been all over the internet, but director James Gunn decided to clear things up himself. The film, Man of Tomorrow, is already getting a lot of attention, especially around the role of Maxima.

Earlier reports, shared by entertainment media outlets, claimed that Marisa Abela, Ella Purnell, and Adria Arjona had done screen tests for the role. But Gunn quickly pushed back on social media. He called the claims “bulls**t” and made it clear that the information was not correct. He also said that while he knows Adria Arjona personally, he has never even met the other two actresses mentioned in those reports.

After that response, new information started to come out from updated industry reports. A different group of actresses is now said to be in the running. Along with Adria Arjona, names like Grace Van Patten, Eva De Dominici, and Sydney Chandler are now being linked to the role. These reports have not been officially confirmed, but they have kept fans talking.

Maxima is not a small role. The character first appeared in DC Comics back in 1989 and is known as a powerful alien queen. She has a complicated connection with Superman, sometimes acting as an enemy and sometimes showing romantic interest in him. Because of this, fans are very curious about who will end up playing her.

Gunn has also shared a bit about the story. In an interview, he said the movie will not only focus on Superman but also heavily involve Lex Luthor. He explained, “It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie,” hinting that both characters will have strong roles in the story. The plot is expected to include a major threat from space, forcing unlikely alliances.

Filming is expected to begin soon, with reports saying production will start later this month. According to Gunn, most of the casting is already done, and Maxima is one of the last big roles left to fill.

The actresses linked to the role have all been busy recently. Sydney Chandler gained attention for her lead role in the series Alien Earth. Grace Van Patten recently wrapped up her work on Tell Me Lies. Eva De Dominici has also been building her career with new projects, and Adria Arjona continues to stay in the spotlight with both acting work and major appearances.

The main cast for the film is already set. David Corenswet will play Superman, while Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Lex Luthor. Other actors include Lars Eidinger as Brainiac and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Rachel Brosnahan and Skyler Gisondo are also returning.
