New ‘Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ Promo Gives Fans a Fresh Look
A new teaser for The Hunger Games Sunrise On The Reaping is giving fans their first real look at the next chapter in the franchise. The promo was released on April 10 and mixes scenes from earlier movies with fresh footage from the upcoming prequel.
The video focuses on showing how the story is moving into a new era, with younger versions of well-known characters. One of the moments people are talking about is the transition between Elizabeth Banks and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket. In the teaser, Banks’ version appears briefly and says, “Remember?” before the scene shifts to Fanning taking on the role in the earlier timeline.
Another familiar face returning in a different form is Caesar Flickerman. This time, Kieran Culkin plays a younger version of the character, who was originally portrayed by Stanley Tucci. The teaser also gives quick looks at other characters from the past, including Wiress and Plutarch Heavensbee, now played by Maya Hawke and Jesse Plemons.

The story is set long before the original films. It follows a teenage version of Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada. He is only 16 years old in this story, and the film shows the games that shaped his life. The character was originally played by Woody Harrelson, but this time the focus is on his early years.
The plot takes place during the Second Quarter Quell, a version of the Hunger Games that forced twice as many tributes into the arena. The movie is directed by Francis Lawrence, who has worked on previous films in the series. The script comes from Billy Ray and is based on the book by Suzanne Collins.
More big names are joining the cast this time. Ralph Fiennes appears as a middle-aged President Snow, while Glenn Close plays a Capitol figure named Drusilla Sickle. Other actors in the film include Mckenna Grace and Kelvin Harrison Jr, who take on younger versions of characters connected to the story.
For Joseph Zada, this role is a big moment in his career. He has already appeared in projects like East of Eden and We Were Liars, and now he is stepping into one of the biggest franchises in film. Based on early reactions, fans are already curious to see how this new version of the story will connect to the original series.
