‘The Batman Part II’ Expands Cast with ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Addition
Charles Dance, widely known for playing Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, is being linked to a new role in the DC universe. According to a report from Deadline, the actor is in talks to join The Batman Part II, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
If the deal is completed, Dance would appear alongside Robert Pattinson, who returns as Batman. The film is once again being written and directed by Matt Reeves.
Early reports suggest Dance may take on the role of Charles Dent, the father of Gotham’s district attorney Harvey Dent. Sebastian Stan is expected to play Harvey Dent, while Scarlett Johansson is also reported to be involved as Dent’s wife. DC Studios has not commented on any of these casting reports.
The sequel is currently planned for release on October 1, 2027. Production is expected to begin in spring 2026. The film is being produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Dylan Clark.
This new chapter follows the success of The Batman from 2022. That film became one of Warner Bros.’ biggest post-pandemic releases, earning over $770 million worldwide. It introduced a darker version of Gotham and a more grounded take on Batman.
Several actors are expected to return for the sequel. These include Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Barry Keoghan is also expected to return as the Joker.
The story is expected to continue exploring Gotham’s corruption and deeper social issues. It will also focus more on Bruce Wayne’s personal identity and life outside the mask, continuing threads from the first film and related series.
Development on the sequel has taken time. The script was completed in 2025 after multiple delays, as Matt Reeves refined the story. Filming is planned for locations in the United Kingdom, including major studios and cities such as London-area facilities, Liverpool, and Glasgow.
Charles Dance is no stranger to playing powerful and controlling characters. Outside of Game of Thrones, he has appeared in projects like Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and the series The Day of the Jackal. His possible role in Gotham would continue that pattern of authoritative figures.
This casting choice makes sense for the tone of the Batman series. Dance has a strong presence and fits well in serious, dramatic roles. If confirmed, he could add more depth to the political side of Gotham’s story. What do you think about Charles Dance possibly joining The Batman Part II? Share your thoughts in the comments.
