‘Practical Magic 2’ Unveils First Teaser Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman
Warner Bros. has released the first teaser for Practical Magic 2, following an earlier preview shown at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. The film brings back the story from the 1998 fantasy movie and continues the journey of the Owens family.
The sequel reunites Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens. Their characters come from a long line of witches who live under a family curse connected to love and loss. In this new chapter, they are still trying to break that curse while facing painful truths from their past.
The teaser opens with narration from Sandra Bullock’s character. She says, “I’m sure you’ve heard of the Owens family — the ones from Massachusetts, the ones their neighbors whisper are witches.” This sets the tone and reminds viewers of the family’s reputation.
The footage also introduces a new character played by Lee Pace, who meets the sisters during the story. At one point, Bullock’s character tells him, “Everyone we love dies.” Nicole Kidman’s character answers with dark humor, saying, “A really horrible death…It’s not great for the Tinder bio.”

Later scenes show Joey King and Maisie Williams playing the daughters of Sally Owens. Their presence connects the next generation to the same family curse, which continues to affect their lives.
The tone shifts between drama and light humor. In one moment, Kidman’s character tries to calm things down and says, “Everything’s going to be okay.” Bullock pushes back and reminds her of their past struggles, questioning if things can really stay calm after everything they have been through.
The film is directed by Susanne Bier, replacing the original director from the first movie. The screenplay comes from Akiva Goldsman, who worked on the original film, along with Georgia Pritchett. Production is handled by Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Denise Di Novi.
The cast also includes returning actors Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing. New cast members such as Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod also join the story.
The movie is set to release in theaters on September 11. Warner Bros. shared the teaser after its CinemaCon presentation, marking the first official look at the sequel.
This sequel has a strong foundation because it brings back the original lead actors and keeps the core family story. The mix of humor, magic, and emotional drama still seems to be there, which is important for fans of the first film. The biggest challenge will be matching the charm of the original while still offering something new. What do you think about this first teaser for Practical Magic 2?
