It was a feel-good afternoon in Hollywood right up until it wasn’t. Dwayne Johnson spent Thursday celebrating his friend and co-star Emily Blunt at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, delivering a heartfelt speech in her honor, only to find himself pulled over by police shortly after leaving the event.

According to TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, it was a traffic stop for tinted windows.

Photos and video obtained by TMZ show Johnson chatting with a police officer while pulled over in a gas station parking lot on Sunset Boulevard, at one point stepping out of the car to hand something to the officer before getting back in to continue the conversation. Johnson remained calm and cooperative throughout the entire interaction, and the stop ended with him receiving a ticket.

Under California law, front side windows must allow at least 70 percent of light to pass through, and a first offense for tinted windows can carry a fine alongside a fix-it order. Not exactly the kind of ending most people would plan for a celebratory Hollywood afternoon, but Johnson handled it with the composure you’d expect from someone who has spent decades in the public eye.

Just hours before the stop, Johnson had been front and center at the Walk of Fame ceremony honoring Blunt and her stepfather Stanley Tucci, held at the El Capitan Theatre. Speaking about his ‘Jungle Cruise’ and ‘The Smashing Machine’ co-star, Johnson told the crowd in a speech, “Every single day, knowing Emily, as many of us do, that is one grateful woman who will wake up feet on the ground, being grateful about every moment. I feel like when you’re grateful about every moment, that then leads to the thing I think we all look for, which is joy and peace of mind.”

Blunt, responding to the tributes paid to her at the ceremony, said, “It’s very difficult to sum up how meaningful this is to me, and the juggernaut that showed up to speak about me has just blown my hair back.”

Also in attendance at the ceremony were Robert Downey Jr., Meryl Streep, and Matt Damon, all gathering to celebrate Blunt and Tucci’s milestone honor. The Walk of Fame star was tied directly to the release of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, in which Blunt reprises her iconic role alongside Streep.

The traffic stop quickly became one of the more talked-about celebrity moments of the week, the kind of perfectly absurd Hollywood contrast that writes itself. One moment you are being praised alongside Hollywood royalty and delivering a speech about gratitude and joy, and the next you are calmly handing your documents to a motorcycle officer on Sunset Boulevard. By all accounts, Johnson even shook the officer’s hand before driving away.
