‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Leak Sparks Buzz — Fan-Favorite Character Rumored to Return

Tobey Maguire is swinging back into the Marvel universe, and this time it is not for a solo film. Reliable insider MyTimeToShineHello confirmed on X that Maguire will appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, the highly anticipated crossover event arriving in theaters later this year. The post has already racked up over 130,000 views and set off a wave of excitement across Marvel fan communities.

The confirmation from MyTimeToShineHello builds on an earlier report from Marvel insider Daniel Richtman, who first revealed on his Patreon that Maguire would reprise the role of Peter Parker, and also claimed that the actor was wearing a CGI-enhanced costume during filming. MyTimeToShineHello added to that by noting Maguire will sport a brand new suit, which would mark the first time the character’s look has changed across his entire on-screen history.

Leaked set photos, presumed to be legitimate rather than AI-generated, also appear to show Maguire in his iconic Spider-Man costume on the Doomsday set, further supporting what the insiders have been reporting. It has also been reported that the film opens with a major action sequence involving Maguire’s Spider-Man, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, with the scene described as featuring fake-out deaths for both Logan and Peter Parker before they resurface later in the story.

Maguire last appeared in the role in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, where his version of Peter Parker was brought into the MCU alongside Andrew Garfield’s iteration as part of the film’s multiverse storyline. That film became one of the highest-grossing entries in the entire franchise, and his return was widely considered one of the most celebrated moments in recent Marvel history.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is reportedly being saved for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ rather than Doomsday, which would explain why Marvel is leaning on the multiversal variants to carry the Spider-Man presence in the upcoming film.

A separate scooper, Alex Perez, has claimed that both Maguire and Garfield’s storylines will ultimately conclude in Secret Wars, which suggests both characters are building toward a definitive and final farewell arc across the two films.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo from a script by Stephen McFeely, and features a sprawling cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, and more than 25 confirmed characters overall.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has also stated publicly that the official cast announcement only covers part of the lineup, meaning further surprises are still coming. The film opens in theaters on December 18.
