Star Wars Day Streaming Surge — Fans Racked Up Billions Minutes in 2025
Star Wars is still a huge deal, and the latest numbers prove it. Even after nearly 50 years, fans are still watching the galaxy far, far away in massive numbers.
According to data shared by Nielsen, people in the United States watched a total of 33 billion minutes of “Star Wars” content in 2025. That equals around 550 million hours. The numbers include both traditional TV and streaming, with Disney+ acting as the main home for the franchise since Disney bought it back in 2012.
The movies made up the biggest part of that viewing. They accounted for 44.2% of all watch time. Live-action shows came next with 38.9%, while animated series made up 16.8%. Documentaries barely registered, taking just 0.2% of the total.
When it comes to specific titles, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope was the most watched. It was followed by Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and then Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
On the TV side, Andor led the way with 7.4 billion minutes viewed. Its second season, which dropped between April and May 2025, helped boost those numbers. The show also stayed on Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming Originals chart for six straight weeks during that time. After “Andor,” Skeleton Crew and The Mandalorian were the most popular.

Looking at just Star Wars Day in 2025, fans watched 637 million minutes in a single day. That equals about 10.6 million hours. “Andor” once again came out on top that day, followed by “A New Hope,” “The Phantom Menace,” Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
Nielsen also looked at what different age groups are watching in early 2026. The Mandalorian is the favorite among Gen Alpha and Baby Boomers. Gen Z is more into the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Meanwhile, Millennials and Gen X are watching “Andor” the most.
All of this shows one thing. “Star Wars” is not slowing down anytime soon. Fans of all ages are still watching, streaming, and staying connected to the franchise in a big way.
