Fans React After First 25 Minutes of ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Are Screened
Excitement around the next big chapter in the Star Wars universe is slowly building as fans get small early looks at what’s coming. After years without a new film on the big screen, expectations are high, and every new detail is being closely watched by longtime followers of the franchise.
That’s exactly what happened when selected fans and influencers were invited to an IMAX screening of the first 25 minutes of The Mandalorian and Grogu. According to reactions shared online, the early footage left a strong impression, even though viewers only saw a small part of the full movie.
Many of those invited took to social media to share their thoughts, and most of the feedback was positive. Several viewers said the opening scenes felt exciting right away, especially because of the action sequences designed for the IMAX format. One viewer wrote, “The 25 minutes felt like a first episode of a new season. It’s also great to see Mando kicking ass on an IMAX screen.”
Another early reaction highlighted the tone of the film, saying, “It has vibes of the original trilogy, the action looks great, and there’s a mystery at its core that caught my attention.” The connection to older Star Wars films seems to be something that stood out for many viewers.
At the same time, not every comment was fully positive. Some viewers pointed out that the movie still feels close to its roots as a streaming series. One person shared, “It didn’t quite feel like a Star Wars movie. It came across more like a streaming TV film than a big-screen experience.” That opinion came up more than once, suggesting that the transition from TV to cinema might be noticeable.
Still, others saw that as part of the appeal. One fan wrote, “If you love the show, I am positive you will love the movie. It looks like the show, of course, but there is an elevated quality to it.” This idea of a familiar style with a bigger scale seems to be a common takeaway.
Characters also remain a big draw. Early viewers praised both Din Djarin and Grogu, with one comment saying, “Din Djarin is arguably the coolest he’s ever been, and Grogu is as adorable as always.” The bond between the two characters continues to be a key part of the story.
The footage shown was directed by Jon Favreau, who has been closely tied to the project from the start. Some viewers also noticed that much of what has already been shown in trailers comes from these opening scenes, which suggests that the rest of the film may still hold major surprises.
It’s important to note that these reactions come from invited guests, and studios like Disney often carefully select who attends these early screenings. Even so, the overall response gives a first look at how the film might be received when it fully releases.
For now, the early impressions suggest a movie that blends the feel of the original series with a bigger, more cinematic scale. Whether it fully delivers as a major Star Wars film will become clear when The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters later this month.
