‘It Ends With Us’ Star Justin Baldoni “Ecstatic at the Result” as Wayfarer Settlement with Blake Lively Is Finalized, Says His Lawyer
Justin Baldoni’s attorney says the actor is “ecstatic” over how the legal dispute tied to It Ends With Us has concluded, following a settlement between Blake Lively and the film’s production companies.
Speaking after news of the agreement, lawyer Bryan Freedman said both Baldoni and producer Jamie Heath are happy with the outcome and view it as a positive resolution after a long period of legal conflict.
He also stressed that Baldoni was no longer directly involved in the case when settlement discussions took place. According to Freedman, Baldoni had already been removed from the active litigation by that stage, and the remaining dispute mainly involved other parties connected to the film’s production structure.
Freedman described the conclusion as a natural endpoint to a case that had already changed significantly before being settled. He noted that many claims had been dropped earlier in the process and several individuals were no longer part of the proceedings. By the time talks progressed, the dispute had narrowed mainly to Lively’s claims against the production-related entities.
The case reached a formal resolution just days before it was set to go to trial in New York. Both sides confirmed the settlement earlier this week, bringing an end to months of legal tension surrounding the film.
In a joint statement, the parties said the movie remains something they are proud of and also acknowledged concerns raised during the process. They added that they support maintaining professional environments free from misconduct.
The legal conflict began in late 2024 when Lively filed claims related to her experience during production of It Ends With Us. Baldoni denied the allegations and later filed a countersuit, which was later dismissed by the court.
Over time, parts of the case were removed or thrown out before the settlement was reached, leading to a much narrower dispute heading into trial preparations.
This kind of settlement is often the outcome when cases become complex and involve multiple companies and claims. It avoids a public trial but still leaves different interpretations of what happened behind the scenes. What do you think about this resolution and how these high-profile disputes are handled?
