Dave Coulier has opened up about the physical effects of his recent cancer treatments, revealing that he lost 45 pounds and has not been able to eat solid food for months.

The actor shared the update in a video posted to Instagram, where fans immediately noticed changes in his appearance and voice. Coulier explained that the weight loss and speech changes were caused by radiation treatment for throat cancer.

He said, “I haven’t posted in quite a while, and the last time I did some of you said that I look differently and I sound differently, and I do.”

Coulier continued by explaining the reason behind the drastic change. “What you’re seeing is the side effects of extensive radiation that I went through carcinoma in my throat.”

The Full House star also revealed how difficult eating has become during recovery. “I haven’t been able to eat solid food in months, and so I’ve lost 45 pounds. That’s what you’re seeing, and it’s affected my ability to speak.”

According to Coulier, this health battle comes after multiple cancer diagnoses over the past two years. He first revealed in 2024 that he had stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Later, he was also diagnosed with HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer.

Despite the difficult treatments, Coulier shared some positive news about his recovery. He said recent PET scans showed encouraging results.

He explained, “We got our PET scans back, and the prognosis looks good for both the carcinoma in my throat and the lymphoma. So we’re very pleased with all of that.”

Earlier this year, Coulier announced that he is now in remission from both cancers. Still, he admitted that the experience continues to stay with him mentally and emotionally.

In another recent interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Coulier reflected on how his lifestyle may have contributed to his health problems. He said he started looking closely at everyday products and habits after his diagnosis.

“I wanted to know, ‘Why did my lymphatic system crash?’” he said. “And I realized as I went down the rabbit hole, everything in my life was toxic.”

He added, “I said, ‘I need to change this, but how do I do it?’” before explaining that he started making small lifestyle changes one step at a time.
