New Harry Potter TV Show Shifts From King’s Cross Station To Waterloo Station For Major Scenes in New Set Leaks
Filming for the new Harry Potter (HBO series) has moved to a new location in London, with scenes now being shot at Waterloo Station instead of the usual King’s Cross Station.
According to reporting from The Daily Mail, filming at Waterloo took place on Sunday as the production continues work on adapting J.K. Rowling’s novels. The series began filming earlier this year and is expected to air next year.
The story introduces a new young cast. Dominic McLaughlin, 11, plays Harry Potter. Arabella Stanton, 11, plays Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout, 11, plays Ron Weasley.
The original film series, released between 2001 and 2011, used King’s Cross Station as the key London location for the Hogwarts Express. The famous Platform 9¾ scenes were also tied to that station, making it one of the most recognisable places in the franchise.
Now the new TV version is changing that familiar setup. Crews have been filming at Waterloo Station instead, and scenes there are expected to be part of the students’ journey to Hogwarts for the new school year.
Filming for the show started in May and has already taken the cast and crew to different locations, including Île de Sein off the coast of Brittany, France. The production is now moving through major scenes as the story develops.
Some background elements spotted during filming include a red double-decker bus with the destination sign “Crouch End.” This detail appeared during shooting at Waterloo, as reported by The Daily Mail. Extras were also seen on set during the scenes.
The franchise is continuing to expand beyond the original films. The Daily Mail reports that the production team is also using a steam locomotive, the Wightwick Hall, which is set to appear as the Hogwarts Express. The engine will be used for filming over multiple years as part of the series.
There are also changes to fan events linked to the franchise. In previous years, fans gathered at King’s Cross Station on September 1 for the “Back to Hogwarts” tradition. However, this public event has now been cancelled, according to a statement from Wizarding World and Warner Bros Discovery.
The production is still ongoing, and more filming locations are expected as the series continues development toward its planned release next year.
