Salma Hayek recently appeared in Venice with her family, and her daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault quickly drew attention for how closely she resembles her famous mother.

The family attended the Fondazione Cini dinner on May 6 during the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in Venice, Italy. Salma was joined by her husband François-Henri Pinault and her stepdaughter Mathilde Pinault for the evening.

Salma wore a black gown that had an elegant asymmetric neckline. The dress was fitted and sleeveless, with silver sparkles across the fabric that caught the light as she moved. The lower part of the dress flowed into a ruched skirt with a high slit on the leg. She completed the look with a black clutch and high heels. Her hair was styled in soft waves, and her makeup was kept classic with smoky eyes and a soft rose lip.

Valentina, who is 18, appeared in a look that clearly matched her mother’s styling direction. She wore a black gown with a similar asymmetric neckline and a fitted shape. Her dress also had a thigh-high slit but was more minimal without sparkles. She paired it with a silver clutch and wore her blonde hair in loose waves. Fans quickly pointed out how much she looks like Salma, with many describing her as her double.

Mathilde Pinault also followed the same theme for the night. She wore a black gown with long sleeves and a plunging neckline. The dress also featured cutout details on the bodice, keeping a modern edge while staying within the same colour palette as the rest of the family. François-Henri Pinault wore a navy suit with a white shirt and tie, keeping his look simple and formal.

Salma and François-Henri welcomed Valentina in 2007. He also has children from previous relationships, including Mathilde and François from his marriage to Dorothée Lepère, and Augustin, his son with supermodel Linda Evangelista.

Beyond fashion, Valentina is also building her own future. Salma has spoken about her daughter’s ambitions in interviews, saying she is interested in studying political science and film. She shared, “She’s going her own way. She wants to study political science and then, as a minor, film because she wants to be a director.” Salma also explained that her daughter wants to learn broadly first, adding, “She said, ‘It’s in my blood. I want to spend the time learning something more complicated.’”

Valentina recently turned 18, and Salma has also opened up about how emotional it is to see her daughter grow up. She said, “When you’re a Mexican Lebanese mother, it’s a very difficult thought because we like them close.”

She also reflected on her next stage in life, explaining that she plans to focus more on her own work and community once her daughter becomes more independent. She said she and her husband have talked about this change for a long time.

For now, the Venice appearance showed a clear moment of connection between mother and daughter. Their matching fashion choices made it even more obvious why people are calling Valentina her mother’s twin, while also highlighting how she is starting to step into her own identity.
