Lionsgate Launches MovieSphere+ on Prime Video — New Subscription Brings More Movies to Watch, For a Price
Lionsgate is expanding its streaming strategy by launching a new premium add-on called MovieSphere+ on Prime Video. The service is now available as a subscription channel for Amazon users and costs $4.99 per month in the United States.
The announcement comes from Lionsgate as part of its ongoing effort to grow the MovieSphere brand. The company already runs a free, ad-supported version of MovieSphere, but this new “plus” version is designed to offer a more curated and ad-free experience. It is aimed at viewers who want deeper access to the studio’s library without interruptions.
MovieSphere+ focuses on Lionsgate’s large catalog of films and TV shows, which reportedly includes around 20,000 titles. The idea is to give subscribers a mix of well-known movies, cult favorites, and older TV series that are not always easy to find on major streaming platforms.
The launch lineup includes several notable titles. TV fans can watch full series like Black Sails, Weeds, and Mad Men. These shows are part of Lionsgate’s wider distribution library and are being used to attract long-term subscribers.
The service also includes popular films across different genres. Horror fans get movies like Evil Dead II and Halloween. More modern and critically praised titles such as Sorry to Bother You are also part of the catalog. In addition, selections from major franchises like The Hunger Games and John Wick are included in the rotating library.
MovieSphere+ is a way to compete in the growing market of smaller, cheaper streaming add-ons. Instead of trying to match large platforms with massive budgets, the company is focusing on niche audiences and curated content.
By launching on Prime Video Channels, the service becomes easy to subscribe to for existing Amazon users. Billing and access are handled directly through Amazon’s system, which makes it simple to add or cancel the service without needing a separate app or account.
Lionsgate is also offering a free trial in many regions, allowing new users to test the service before paying. The company is targeting viewers who want a low-cost option for older movies and complete TV box sets rather than big new original shows.
With streaming services becoming more crowded and expensive, MovieSphere+ is aiming to stand out by being simple, focused, and affordable.
