This Actor Is Being Fancast as Bane in the DCU and Fans Might Be Right
The conversation around the new DC Universe is already heating up, and one name keeps coming up again and again for the role of Bane. That name is Martyn Ford, a bodybuilder and actor who has recently become a fan favorite choice for the villain. The discussion comes from a mix of fan reactions online and early reporting about upcoming DC Studios projects.
Ford is already known for playing strong and physically intimidating characters. One of his most recent roles was Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 2. That performance helped push his image even further as someone who can play large, powerful antagonists on screen.
Before acting, Ford built his career in bodybuilding and fitness. He is known for his massive frame and athletic background, which made him stand out long before he entered Hollywood. Over time, he moved into acting roles that often use his physical presence as a key part of the character. Because of that, fans now see him as a natural fit for comic book villains who rely on strength and intimidation.
This is why his name is now strongly linked with Bane in the new DC Universe. Fans online have been suggesting him more and more as casting talk continues around the character. Many believe his look and physical presence match what Bane needs on screen, especially in a modern live-action version.
At the same time, DC Studios is still early in development on a project that could include Bane and Deathstroke. According to industry reporting, a team-up film featuring those characters was first revealed in September 2024, with Matthew Orton writing the screenplay. Later updates confirmed that Orton has been involved with DC Studios projects, although the exact direction of the story has not been locked in.
Reports also say that director meetings have been taking place as of May 2026, with Greg Mottola mentioned as one of the names being considered. The script is still in development, and rewriting is expected depending on who ends up directing the film. Production has not started yet, and filming is expected to take place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England once everything is finalized.
Even with the project still early, fan casting has already taken over online discussions. Martyn Ford is often the first name mentioned when people talk about who could play Bane. Many fans argue that his size, screen presence, and previous villain roles make him a strong choice.
Ford’s acting career is still growing, but he has been steadily moving into bigger film projects. His role in Mortal Kombat 2 added to his reputation for playing physically dominant characters, and that has only increased interest in seeing him step into the DC Universe.
So far, DC Studios has not confirmed any casting for Bane. But the fan support for Martyn Ford continues to grow, and many believe he fits the role better than anyone else currently being discussed.
