“Fast & Furious” Could Finally Show a Different Aspect of Mia— And Jordana Brewster Is Pushing for It
Jordana Brewster wants the “Fast & Furious” franchise to spend more time on Mia Toretto as a mother, especially if the series continues with a final movie or one of the upcoming TV spinoffs.
Speaking to reporters about the future of the franchise, Brewster said she would like to see a more realistic and emotional side of Mia’s family life.
Mia has been part of the series since the first 2001 film “The Fast and the Furious.” She is Dominic Toretto’s younger sister and the longtime partner of Brian O’Conner, the former police officer played by Paul Walker. Over the years, Mia became one of the most important members of the crew, often acting as the calm and grounded character in the middle of the chaos.
Even though Mia has appeared in several movies, her role as a parent has mostly stayed in the background. Brewster said she thinks there is more story to tell there, especially now that Mia’s children are older.
“There is something so hard about parenting boys. I’d love to see how she handles that, especially with all this gentle parenting. I’d love to see Mia lose her stuff on her boys. Just a hardcore, stripped mom dealing with teenagers.”
Brewster’s comments come at a time when Universal is expanding the “Fast & Furious” world beyond the movies. In May 2026, Vin Diesel announced that four live-action “Fast & Furious” TV series were in different stages of development for Peacock. According to Diesel, the studio is building several new stories connected to the franchise.
The first planned series will be led by showrunners Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman. Universal has also hired Nick Wootton and Charmaine DeGraté, Ingrid Escajeda, and Joe Henderson to write pilot episodes for three additional projects.
The new shows could open the door for more character-focused stories, including one centered on Mia and her family life. While the movies are known for action scenes, car chases, and global missions, Brewster’s idea would bring the story back to a more personal level.
Mia has always been one of the emotional anchors of the franchise. She supported Dom through family conflicts, helped Brian leave law enforcement behind, and stayed connected to the crew even after Walker’s death changed the direction of the series. A spinoff focused on her life as a mother could show a very different side of the “Fast & Furious” universe than fans usually see on screen.
