As he described it, “The scene becomes passionate, as we choreographed it. And we get into it as it were, and we go a little bit further than we were meant to just because we don’t hear ‘cut’ and it’s feeling safe.”

Garfield said that for a short time, both he and Pugh started to realize something felt off, since the moment kept going longer than it should have. He added that they even felt like the crew had not stepped in yet, which made the situation more noticeable.

He continued by describing how both actors became aware that the take had likely gone too far. According to him, there was a moment where they both understood it was running longer than planned, but the camera team had not stopped filming.

Garfield also spoke warmly about working with Pugh, praising her professionalism and comfort on set. He said she was confident in her body and the emotional demands of the role, which helped make difficult scenes easier to perform.
