Stars Arrive as TCL Chinese Theatre Turns Into Castle Grayskull for ‘Masters of the Universe’ Event
The world premiere of Masters of the Universe turned Hollywood into something straight out of Eternia. The iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles was fully transformed into Castle Grayskull for the event, creating a themed red carpet that matched the fantasy world of the film.
The premiere took place on May 18, ahead of the movie’s theatrical release on June 5. The event brought together the cast, filmmakers, and special guests, with fans and photographers lining the red carpet as the star-studded lineup arrived.
Among those in attendance were director Travis Knight and cast members Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Alison Brie, and original He-Man actor Dolph Lundgren. Camila Mendes stood out on the carpet, drawing attention for her appearance as she joined her co-stars for photos and interviews during the event.
Footage and images from the premiere showed the scale of the transformation, with the theatre decorated to resemble Castle Grayskull, the legendary fortress from the Masters of the Universe universe. The theme matched the film’s tone, which mixes sword-and-sorcery action with a modern blockbuster style.
According to production information from the studio and event coverage, Masters of the Universe is directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, Aaron and Adam Nee, and David Callaham. It is based on the long-running Mattel franchise and serves as a new live-action adaptation following the 1987 film.
The story follows Prince Adam, played by Nicholas Galitzine, who returns to the planet Eternia after years away. He discovers his world in ruins and under the control of Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. To save his home, he must embrace his destiny as He-Man and join forces with allies like Teela, played by Camila Mendes, and Man-At-Arms, played by Idris Elba.
The full cast also includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, and several other well-known actors taking on iconic roles from the franchise.
Speaking through promotional materials, the filmmakers have emphasized that the film aims to expand the world of Eternia while staying true to its roots as a classic fantasy adventure.
With its large-scale premiere and strong visual presentation, the event set the tone for what the studio hopes will be one of the biggest fantasy releases of the year.
