‘Masters of the Universe’ Star Nicholas Galitzine Reveals Intense Daily Routine Behind His He-Man Transformation
Nicholas Galitzine has spoken about the intense physical transformation he went through to play He-Man in the upcoming live-action film Masters of the Universe.
The actor said he trained almost every day to prepare for the role. He explained, “It was a pretty short amount of time. You kind of would love to live in this character for a year beforehand but the training very much changed as the movie went on.” He added that the production wanted him to get as big as possible for the character.
At times, his routine included extreme eating and training plans. He said, “having up to 5,000 calories sometimes, weightlifting for three hours a day,” before the process later shifted into a more controlled routine as filming continued.
Nicholas Galitzine also described how fast-paced the filming days were while maintaining that physical level. He said, “So, you’re shooting a scene, they say, ‘You have 10 minutes until the next set up,’ you run outside, you hop on the assault bike, run back in, shoot a scene again, and that kind of goes on for about five months.”
The actor also opened up about the challenges of cutting calories during production. He explained that lowering his food intake while filming action scenes made things even harder. He said, “You have that brain fog. So, I definitely felt like that was a thing but especially when you’re doing these action set pieces, you’ve gotta have energy for it.”
Masters of the Universe is a new sword and sorcery film directed by Travis Knight. It is based on the classic Mattel franchise and follows Prince Adam as he becomes He-Man and returns to Eternia to fight Skeletor and save the planet.
The film has had a long development process over many years, with several changes in directors, studios, and casting before finally moving forward under Amazon MGM Studios. Filming took place in London between 2025 and 2026.
The cast includes several major actors alongside Galitzine, including Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Jared Leto, and Alison Brie.
The movie is scheduled for release on June 5, and early reports suggest it will be a major action-heavy reboot of the franchise, focusing on Prince Adam’s transformation into He-Man and his battle against Skeletor.
