‘The Boys’ Season 5 Includes Hidden Reunion of 3 ‘Star Trek’ Actors
The final season of The Boys has brought many twists, but one of the quieter details is how it connects several actors who have also appeared in the Star Trek universe. The show has long featured Karl Urban and Jack Quaid, both of whom have major links to Star Trek, but season 5 also adds a third actor who expands that connection even further.
In episode 6, the story continues to focus on Homelander’s rise, with Soldier Boy handing over the last V1 vial, pushing Homelander closer to his goal of becoming an all-powerful figure. As the series builds toward its ending, new characters and storylines are being introduced, including a new Supe known as “Oh Father,” a charismatic religious-style leader who aligns himself with Homelander.
The addition of this character brings Daveed Diggs into the cast of The Boys. According to production and casting information reported on the series, Diggs’ role marks another unexpected link between The Boys and Star Trek. Diggs previously voiced Commander Tysess in Star Trek: Prodigy, an animated series set in the Star Trek universe.

Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher in The Boys, is also well known for his role as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the Star Trek reboot films directed by J.J. Abrams.

Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie Campbell, is also part of the Star Trek universe through his voice role as Brad Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks, along with appearances in crossover material tied to the franchise.

Daveed Diggs, meanwhile, is widely known beyond science fiction. He is an award-winning performer who originated roles in the Broadway musical Hamilton, and has appeared in projects such as Snowpiercer, Black-ish, and voiced characters in films like Soul and The Little Mermaid.
In The Boys, Diggs’ character Oh Father is very different from his Star Trek role. Instead of a disciplined Starfleet officer, he plays a public-facing figure who becomes involved in Homelander’s growing movement, despite being aware of the danger and manipulation behind it.
