Netflix has revealed the first image from the upcoming Peaky Blinders sequel series, giving fans a look at Charlie Heaton as an older Charles Shelby. The actor, known for playing Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, is stepping into the role of Tommy Shelby’s son for the new chapter of the franchise.

According to Netflix, the new six-episode series will follow the next generation of the Shelby family after the events of The Immortal Man, the recent movie spin-off that marked the end of Tommy Shelby’s story. Cillian Murphy played Tommy in the original series and film.

Jamie Bell will also star in the sequel as Duke Shelby, Charles’ half-brother. Duke previously appeared in The Immortal Man and was played by Barry Keoghan.

The story takes place in the 1950s, around ten years after World War II. The series is set in Birmingham as the city begins rebuilding after the destruction caused during the Blitz.

The official synopsis released by Netflix says, “Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality.” It also explains that Charles has stayed away from both Duke and the Peaky Blinders gang for years. However, the synopsis adds, “But can you ever escape your own blood?”
