Soap Fans Stunned: Major ‘General Hospital’ Star Exits After 3 Years
Fans of General Hospital will soon be saying goodbye to one of the show’s familiar faces. Actress Kate Mansi is leaving the long-running ABC daytime drama after spending three years playing Kristina Corinthos-Davis.
The news about Mansi’s exit was first reported by Soap Opera Network and later confirmed by soap journalist Stephanie Sloane through comments from both the actress and the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini. According to the reports, Mansi’s final episodes are expected to air in June.
Mansi joined the soap in 2023 when she took over the role of Kristina Corinthos-Davis, a character previously played by Lexi Ainsworth. Before arriving at “General Hospital,” Mansi was already well known to soap fans because of her long run on Days of Our Lives, where she played Abigail Deveraux for nearly a decade.
During her time on “General Hospital,” Mansi became part of several emotional storylines and also earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for her performance. She previously won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2017 for her work on “Days of Our Lives.” Besides acting, she also directed two episodes of the ABC soap during her run.

Speaking with Stephanie Sloane for her newsletter, Mansi explained that leaving the show was her own decision. She shared that new opportunities in her career and changes in her personal life played a big part in it.
“I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital,” Mansi said. “I have a few new projects that require my full attention and with my husband currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.”
The actress also spoke warmly about her experience on the show and what the role meant to her. She explained that one of the reasons she accepted the role was because Kristina’s story allowed her to support important issues, including LGBTQ+ representation and an endometriosis storyline.
“When Frank first approached me about the role, two things deeply resonated with me: the opportunity to show my support for the queer community by playing an LGBTQ+ character, and to help tell an endometriosis storyline,” Mansi shared. “Together, I truly feel we honored both of those stories in a way that mattered.”
She added, “It’s been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I’ve loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family.”
Valentini also praised the actress following the announcement. In a statement, he made it clear that the production team supports her choice and would welcome her back in the future.
“We love Kate and support her decision to leave,” Valentini said. “The door is always open and we appreciate all that she has added to the show these past three years.”
Outside of daytime television, Mansi has appeared in projects including the drama series Casa Grande and the 2020 indie film Legend of the Muse. She also recently opened up publicly about her personal struggle with endometriosis, revealing how painful the condition became while filming television scenes earlier in her career.
As her final episodes approach, many longtime viewers are expected to miss her version of Kristina, especially after the emotional and personal stories she helped bring to the screen.
