‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Joins New Spinoff ‘Stuart Fails To Save The Universe’
HBO Max has offered a new look at Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, the upcoming Big Bang Theory spinoff, and it includes a surprise cameo from Wil Wheaton, according to the new sizzle reel released by the platform.
Wheaton, who previously appeared in the original series as a fictionalized version of himself, briefly appears in the footage inside Stuart Bloom’s comic book store. The moment comes quickly, but shows him seemingly attacking Stuart and his group with an energy blast. The scene features Stuart, Denise, Bert, and Barry Kripke reacting to the chaos unfolding around them.
The appearance marks another connection between the new series and the original Big Bang Theory universe. Wheaton was a recurring character in the main show for many seasons, appearing in 17 episodes across seasons 3 through 12. His return, even briefly, adds to the growing list of familiar faces being teased for the spinoff.
The new series follows Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman, who is once again at the center of unusual events after accidentally triggering a multiverse disaster. The story begins when Stuart breaks a device originally created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter. That mistake leads to a reality collapse that forces him to try to fix multiple broken universes.
Alongside Stuart, the show features his girlfriend Denise, his friend Bert, and physicist Barry Kripke. Together, they are pulled into a chaotic journey across different versions of reality. The series also hints at alternate-universe versions of familiar characters from the original show, which adds a new layer of comedy and sci-fi storytelling to the franchise.
According to HBO Max, the show is created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady. Lorre and Prady are both longtime creative forces behind The Big Bang Theory franchise. The music for the series is composed by Danny Elfman, who is known for his work across film and television.
The spinoff is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in partnership with Warner Bros. Television. It continues the expansion of the Big Bang Theory universe, which has already produced multiple successful spinoffs.
Stuart Fails To Save The Universe is set to premiere in July on HBO Max.
