Iman Vellani has opened up about her time working on Marvel projects, saying she often pointed out continuity mistakes while filming both “Ms. Marvel” and “The Marvels.” She explained that she was very aware of how fans online, especially on Reddit, would quickly notice small errors.

She said, “I was like, ‘I know Reddit nerds are going to call it out. I’m calling it out now. You have the opportunity to fix it now.’ But you know, these things have to get like approved by 40 different producers.”

Even with the complicated production process, Vellani said she felt supported by the creative team. She described her experience in a positive way, saying she was given a lot of freedom to speak up during filming. She added, “But I got so lucky that I was given so much space to express myself at Marvel. All the producers that I was working with on both the show and the film really respected my opinion… So they really used me as their secret weapon in a way.”

“Ms. Marvel” was created as part of Marvel Studios’ effort to introduce new younger heroes into the MCU. The series follows Kamala Khan, a teenage superhero fan who gains powers and learns to balance her normal life with her new identity. The show was praised for its fresh tone, strong cultural representation, and its lead performance by Vellani.

Critics responded positively overall, especially praising its visual style and character-driven storytelling. Many reviews highlighted it as one of Marvel’s most unique Disney+ series, even though some viewers felt its powers and plot were more grounded compared to other MCU shows. Still, it was widely seen as a strong introduction for a new hero.

The series also directly set up events for “The Marvels,” with Marvel Studios confirming early on that Kamala Khan would move from television into the film side of the MCU. According to Feige, the character’s introduction was designed to connect directly to future storylines.

“The Marvels,” which brings together Kamala Khan, Carol Danvers, and Monica Rambeau, received a more mixed critical reaction. Some praised its humor, chemistry between the leads, and Vellani’s standout performance, while others felt the story was uneven and rushed in parts. Despite that, Vellani’s role was frequently highlighted as one of the strongest elements of the film.

Vellani has also expressed interest in continuing Kamala’s story in future projects. She mentioned ideas for a possible second season of “Ms. Marvel,” including the introduction of new villains that could appeal to younger audiences. She also noted her excitement about how the character’s comic book developments, including her mutant reveal in Marvel Comics, could eventually be adapted into the MCU.

The production journey of both “Ms. Marvel” and “The Marvels” shows how closely Marvel is trying to connect its Disney+ series with its films. Vellani’s comments give a behind-the-scenes look at how much collaboration and adjustment happens during that process, especially when building a shared universe with many moving parts.
