The final trailer for Scary Movie 6 has been released, and it gives fans another look at the return of the long-running parody franchise.

The movie is set to arrive in theaters on June 5. It brings back the classic comedy style of the early Scary Movie films, which made fun of popular horror movies and pop culture.

This new film is directed by Michael Tiddes and written by a team that includes Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez. It is the sixth movie in the series and follows Scary Movie 5 from 2013. It is also being described as a return to the style of the first two films.

The story focuses on a group of old friends who are forced to come back together when a masked killer from their past returns. This killer first appeared in events that happened 26 years earlier, and now the group must deal with the situation again.

The main cast includes Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Jon Abrahams, and Anthony Anderson. Several returning characters are also part of the story, including Cindy Campbell, Ray Wilkins, Shorty Meeks, and Brenda Meeks.

A key detail about the production is that the Wayans family is heavily involved again after many years away from the franchise. According to production notes, this marks their first major collaboration on Scary Movie since their departure after Scary Movie 2 in 2001 due to earlier creative disagreements.

The film was first announced in 2024. Later that year, it was confirmed that the Wayans brothers would return to write and produce the movie. This reunion was described by Marlon Wayans as a “rebooquel,” meaning it combines elements of a reboot and a sequel.

The trailer also shows that the film continues its tradition of parodying modern horror movies. It includes references to popular titles like Scream, Get Out, Smile, M3GAN, and The Substance, along with other well-known horror franchises. Older horror icons also appear in spoof form, including Jason Voorhees and Leatherface.

Marlon Wayans has also commented on the direction of the film in earlier interviews. He mentioned that recent horror films give the franchise new material to work with. He pointed to movies like Heretic, Longlegs, and Sinners as part of the inspiration for the parody style.

The movie also includes returning comedic elements from earlier entries, including familiar characters and exaggerated versions of pop culture figures. Kenan Thompson also appears in a parody role as Michael Jackson, a character that previously showed up in earlier Scary Movie films.

Some scenes in the film reportedly went through changes during production. One sequence involving a parody of Terrifier 3 was initially removed but later added back in a shorter version.

With its mix of returning cast members, new horror targets, and the Wayans family back in control, Scary Movie 6 aims to bring back the style of comedy that made the original films popular.

Scary Movie 6 is scheduled to release in the United States on June 5, through Paramount Pictures.
