Charlize Theron is speaking openly about how she is raising her two daughters and the kind of life she wants them to have as they grow up.

Theron shares two adopted daughters, Jackson, 14, and August, 11. During the interview, she explained that she does not want her children to grow up expecting an easy life or financial support without effort. Instead, she wants them to understand the value of work and independence from a young age.

She made it clear that big purchases will not simply be given to them. According to Theron, things like a first car will need to be earned and will not come with luxury or privilege attached. She also joked about how new drivers should not expect anything expensive or high-end right away.

She said, “First of all, your first car is going to be a Datsun, because you’re going to crash it. You’re going to f— it up somehow. You’re a new driver. So, we’re not getting, like, the nice car up front.”

Theron also spoke about how she uses everyday moments to teach her children about real jobs and responsibility. She said she often points out workers in places like Starbucks to show them what consistent work looks like and how people build careers from simple beginnings.

She explained, “Yeah. Every time we go to Starbucks, I’m like, ‘Look at this … Do you see how friendly? You have to be that friendly every morning at 6 a.m. Start getting ready for it.’”

Her main message was about preparing her daughters for adulthood in a realistic way. She wants them to grow into people who can take care of themselves without depending on her money or fame. For Theron, independence is something that should be learned early and practiced over time.

She also said, “It’s too soon to kind of say where they’re going to end up. They just need to get a job that pays them, because I don’t want to support them for the rest of life.”

The actress has talked about parenting in other interviews as well. In past conversations, including one on Call Her Daddy, she discussed her experience as a single mother and how adopting her children changed her life. She has often described motherhood as something that gave her a strong sense of purpose and stability.

Her latest comments continue that same approach. She is focused on raising her daughters in a grounded environment where they learn responsibility, effort, and the value of earning their own money. Instead of relying on privilege, Theron wants them to understand that success comes from work, not entitlement.

Through her podcast appearance, Theron made it clear that her parenting style is strict but practical. She is not trying to shield her daughters from reality. Instead, she is preparing them for it step by step, with the hope that they grow into independent adults who can stand on their own.
